I am honored to have been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Dual Enrollment and Tuition Equalization Grants. Forsyth County has a thriving dual enrollment community, and I believe that more families in Forsyth County should consider taking advantage of this opportunity for their high school-aged children. In the current economic climate, this program is of great benefit to Georgia families. My daughter was able to earn her associate degree before graduating from high school, and she gained valuable real-world work experience as a tutor at UNG, which exposed her to the wide range of offerings at Lanier Technical College. I am confident that this experience also helped her gain admission to Georgia Tech. Furthermore, having a head start on her college curriculum has allowed her to make the most of her college experience with reduced stress.
Most importantly, Dual Enrollment provided her with early exposure to the university and technical college experience while still being under the watchful eye of her parents at home. This program is a fantastic offering by our great state. I encourage you to learn more about the opportunities available for your high school students.
